Rotary Club of Clayton Weekly Newsletter
Week of Thursday, September 17, 2026
September is Basic Education and Literacy Month for Rotary.
President’s Message
With the recent death of beloved entertainer Dolly Parton, we have lost not only a truly great artist, but also an inspirational advocate for children and education.
Through Dolly Patron’s Imagination Library (click to see), she pursued a simple yet powerful aim: to give every child access to books from the earliest years of life.
Since 2009, her foundation has also worked closely with Rotary International and Rotary clubs around the world.
In 2010, Dolly Parton addressed the Rotary International Convention in Montréal, where she was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Her connection with Rotary was rooted in values that lie at the very heart of Rotary: advancing education, creating opportunities and helping to give children a better future.
We can be inspired by her remarkable passion and belief that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading and generous legacy which will endure.
