💙💛 Meet Your Leadership: Susie Howard
Meet Susie Howard, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Clayton!
Susie joined Rotary in February 2025 and became Chairperson of Family of Rotary in July 2025. Now serving as Secretary, she brings a career in Human Resources, Leadership Development & Succession Planning to our leadership team.
🦷 Her favorite Rotary projects are the Dental and Denture Clinics. “Seeing how what we do changes lives for the better makes my heart full.” She also loves our social events and the opportunity to relax and enjoy time together as a club.
What Susie enjoys most about Rotary is seeing the impact of both our local and international projects and working side by side with other dedicated volunteers. To her, Service Above Self is about taking care of others—whether that means smoke detectors, Special Olympics, fighting food scarcity, environmental cleanup, or simply doing what is best for our neighbors and community.
🤿 Fun fact: Susie and her husband, Jeff, have been married for 27 years. Their son Nicholas, 26, works in cybersecurity, and their daughter Kayla, 23, is starting vet school this fall. The whole family loves to scuba dive, and the kids have been diving since they were 10!
We’re proud to have Susie as part of our Rotary leadership and helping us Create Lasting Impact! 💙💛

🌟 Leadership Spotlight: Karen Bacon 🌟
This week we're proud to spotlight Karen Bacon, Chairperson of the Clayton Rotary Foundation, Inc.
Karen has been a dedicated Rotarian for 8 years and enjoys the opportunity to work, serve, and build lasting friendships with people who are united by a shared commitment to making a difference.
As Chairperson of the Clayton Rotary Foundation, Karen helps support the charitable mission of our club. The Foundation provides resources that help Rotary expand its impact and support projects that benefit our community.
Karen's favorite Rotary event was last year's club social, Monster Mash, a fun evening of fellowship that brought members together outside of our regular meetings.
When asked what "Service Above Self" means to her, Karen shared:
"It's really very simple... Jesus taught us that we must 'love our neighbor as thyself'... and that 'our neighbor' is anyone in need. That truth is the catalyst that motivates me to engage and embrace Service Above Self."
🎸 Fun Fact: Karen plays the bass guitar in a rock band!
Thank you, Karen, for your leadership, servant heart, and commitment to helping the Rotary Club of Clayton create lasting impact throughout our community.

This past weekend, several members of the Rotary Club of Clayton attended the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), investing in their leadership skills and bringing back fresh ideas to strengthen our club and better serve our community.
RLI equips Rotarians with a deeper understanding of Rotary, practical leadership tools, and opportunities to connect with members from across the district. We’re proud of our members for their commitment to learning, growing, and living out Service Above Self.
