OCTOBER is Polio Awareness Month

President’s Message
Relationship Between Rotary International and the CDC
Rotary International and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are formal partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), a public?private partnership aimed at eliminating polio worldwide. The GPEI is led by national governments and includes five key partners: World Health Organization (WHO), Rotary International, U.S. CDC, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Within this framework, Rotary International provides global volunteer mobilization, funding, and advocacy, while the CDC contributes technical expertise, surveillance, immunization strategy, and operational support. CDC works alongside Rotary to coordinate immunization campaigns, train health workers, and ensure safe, effective delivery of vaccines in high?risk areas. This partnership continued during the COVID Pandemic based on the historical relationship and collective efforts.
