๐ Recap from Last Week
We had our Club Assembly last week. Committees were able to meet for 20 minutes to discuss plans and priorities.
In addition, the Rotary Club of Clayton and the Clayton Rotary Foundation donated $10,000 to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. We also presented a certificate of appreciation to James Brim in recognition of the tremendous support the Food Bank has given Rotary and its ongoing work to combat hunger in our community.
After the assembly, we adjourned and came together to pack 200 meals for the kids of Rabun Countyโa wonderful start to the year of service!
๐ฝ๏ธ This Weekโs Menu
Chicken Teriyaki with White Rice and Stir-Fried Broccoli, Peppers, Mushrooms, and Onions
๐ค This Weekโs Program: Speaker โ Matt Slappey
This week, we welcome Matt Slappey, who will give us an inside look at his experience participating in the Drug War in Colombia during the 1990s.
Matt served as both a helicopter pilot and airplane pilot in the U.S. Army. He was considered โdual branchedโโqualified as an Army Aviator and an Army Intelligence Officer. Rising to the rank of Captain, he spent several years in a small, specialized unit focused on cartels and narco-terrorism.
Matt will share not only enlightening stories about our countryโs efforts to slow the flow of drugs into the U.S., but also some funny stories showing how things donโt always go as planned.
๐ You wonโt want to miss this entertaining and informative talk on Thursday!
