President’s Message

September is Basic Education and Literacy Month for Rotary.
After close to two years of effort to bring an after-school program to our community, Last week we received confirmation of sponsorship from The Boys & Girls Club of Central Georgia. I cannot think of a better way to highlight the Rotary Club of Clayton’s continued dedication to Youth Services and Education in Rabun County.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America is a national nonprofit that delivers evidence-informed programs to support academic success, character & leadership, health & well-being, sports & recreation and workforce readiness — They provide 30 core programs through a network of more than 5,500 local clubs reaching more than 4 million young people annually.

- Stekoa Creek Clean-up Friday, September 11th 10AM-12PM

Spreading mulch, deadheading, seed collecting, hand weeding, weed-eating, picking up sticks and watering. Bring: Water bottle, gloves. Optional: shovel, rakes, hand trowel, cushion of knees, weed eater, loppers/shears, clippers or handsaw
- Dictionary Distribution: September 16th @ 8AM & September 17th @ 5:30PM
- Clayton Rotary Chefs Cooking at RCHS Football Came Friday, September 18th @ 5:30PM
- Food Distribution – Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church Saturday, September 19th @ 6:45 AM
- Foxfire Clean-up – Wednesday. September 30th @ 9AM-2PM

Preparing for Mountaineer Festival: Moving bleachers, installing fencing, placing tires and barrels for activities Suggested Tools: pliers, sledgehammer gloves, long pants, sunscreen or hat
