President’s Message
Throughout this entire year, our club has continued to grow, serve, and make a meaningful impact throughout our community. From service projects and food distributions to supporting youth initiatives and community partnerships, our members continue to demonstrate what it means to live out Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.”
As we head into the final stretch of the 2025–2026 Rotary year, we still have plenty of opportunities to serve, learn, and have fun. We have some great service projects coming up: “SOUND THE ALARM,” the Epic Day of Service, and Rotary Chefs. We are now planning our End of the Year Celebration. Also, don’t forget about the biggest learning event of the year, Club Leaders Learning Seminar. Read on to get more details.
Thank you for everything you do to make the Rotary Club of Clayton such a special organization. Together, we continue to unite for good and make a lasting impact in Rabun County and beyond.
Recap from Last Week’s Meeting
We traveled to Rabun Gap Nacoochee School this past Thursday, where we heard a great presentation from Ryne Linsley on how GOAL scholarships are making an impact on school choice and how contributing comes off your state income taxes dollar for dollar. He also shared with us the program that will soon be available at the federal level.
We then heard from three of our RGNS Interact students. They went over what it means to them to be involved in Service Above Self and their motivations for joining Interact. Each one expressed how excited they were to be involved in Rotary/Interact.
We finished up by presenting a $1,000 scholarship to graduating senior Kendall Weisser. She has been involved in chartering the RGNS Interact Club this year and is an incredible student. Best of wishes, Kendall! Below is our Youth Services Chair, Amy Hulett, presenting the scholarship to the RGNS Interact Falculty Advisor, Anne Shook.

We will be going to Rabun County High School this week to hand out scholarships. Thank you to our members who made it possible for the Rotary Club of Clayton to give out 10 scholarships this year.

Service Above Self
We had 14 Rotarians show up for the Lake Burton Cleanup Day. The Impact Club did a great job of lining up boats and matching up volunteers to man them. We collected trash and floating debris and filled two dumpsters over the 2½ hours we were on the water.

We also got to hear from the Savannah Riverkeeper, who gave us some great news about how the efforts of some of our members to monitor water quality on Lake Burton have been so successful that the program will now be expanded to all the lakes in Rabun County.

There are moments when service stops being an idea and becomes something you can see, touch, and build with your own hands. This spring, Rotary District 6910’s Disaster Relief Committee is offering an opportunity to do exactly that, and we invite you to be a part of this. This opportunity takes place June 4–6 at Girl Scout Camp Tanglewood near Augusta, Georgia. We will begin on June 4 with a $50,000 check presentation supporting hurricane recovery efforts, followed by hands-on service work. Volunteers will assist with carpentry, planting, debris removal, and preparing new cabins. No experience is required — just a willingness to serve. This will be a collaborative effort with volunteers from District 6900 and District 6920. Housing is available for Rotarians who would like to be matched with a host family in Augusta during the project.Sign up for our Augusta project here:
